GET TO KNOW DJ

Stanley DeWayne Johnson (DJ) is an Owensboro native and a graduate of Apollo High School and Western Kentucky University. It was at Western Kentucky University where DJ found his ‘calling’ within the Communications and Military Science fields of study. After earning his degree, his desire to serve led him to a career in the military where he served our country for over 11 years — advancing quickly to the rank of US Army Captain.

After a successful military career and a stint in Washington D.C., DJ decided to move back home to the city he loves with his wife of 40 happy years, Ellen, who is also of Owensboro. Since his return, DJ has been a successful small business manager and has helped many local businesses thrive through consulting with his tried and true approach to management. His time spent within the private sector, paired with his education and military background provided him with a unique skill set that friends and family took notice of, encouraging him to serve us again, but this time in the political realm.

When DJ is not advocating for Owensboro residents in Frankfort, he can be seen at his church (Bellevue Baptist), playing with his dogs (Cooper and Missy) in the park, spending time mentoring kids, watching a college basketball game, or attending a board meeting for a non-profit organization.
